Time For Something Sweet!!

WARNING:
The following is not meant to be a big brag or a "look at me thing" but I will be keeping my blog up-to-date with Disney plans so if you don't wan't to read about them - stop now!!!! I want to have a journal of sorts because who knows if we'll ever do this again. Okey-dokey - I am now guilt free. Luv-2-all.

So we decided last week to "just do it" and go to Disneyland. YIKES!!! None of us have ever been on a plane before and we certainly didn't want to drive with three kids (in prime arguing phases of life) in the back seat. Hmmmm, 24 hours or 2. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

I went once when I was 5 and once when I was 9 or 10. I really don't remember anything about the time when I was 5 except my Gramma May always wanted to go on It's A Small World. That was one of my favourites too. When I was 9 or 10, I remember having a big huge freak fit because "I was tired of everybody butting in and pushing me". Hmmm, that doesn't sound at all like me - lol. I remember my mom and dad just looking at me shocked at the scene I had just created. I also remember on the last night riding the monerail one more time around the park saying good bye to one of the happiest times of my childhood. Ah, the memories.

Well, God blessed us with enough good fortune to take the kids for 1 week in October. The big Disney celebration of 50 years is on until November so we just made it.

We wanted to plan something big to tell the kids. One option was just waiting until the day we were leaving and just go to the airport and then tell them but the weird thing is, they've been talking about going to Disneyland, pretty much daily, for weeks now. I would ask them why and they would just say they don't know. Weird!! Anyways, I'm chalking it up to it just being that Nicholas saw Pirates of the Carribean about a month ago and he's sort of been Disney focused ever since. So, because we couldn't bare to see them talk about it with no hope in sight of when or if they'll ever go, we decided to tell them. (That and we figured we would either blow the secret by mistake or that they're smart enough to figure it out.) We found out afterwards that they had NO idea that we were planning it. It's almost like they were prophetic ; )

Anyways, I went to Dairy Queen and picked up an ice cream cake and asked them to write, "Disneyland - here we come!". John was "pretending" he was fiddling with the video camera and I had mentioned at dinner that I picked up a cake from Dairy Queen for a treat. When I was getting it out of the box, I said - Oh that's weird. There's writing on it. Tara clued in right away as she read it. Nicholas was a bit slower on the draw but then figured it out and saw on our calendar that the 1st week in October was crossed out with the word DISNEYLAND, that's when our house went into a huge, freaky hug fest. Poor Holly was squished like a bug between her brother and sister and didn't know what all the fuss was about but pretended she did anyways.

The first clip of the Disney Family Vacation had been captured.
